DWAYNE STEPHENSDwayne is in his third 3-year-term as Business Manager for Sheet Metal Workers Local #9 and is responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the Local Union. He is Vice-President of the Denver Area Labor Federation, a member of the Statewide Joint Apprentice Training Committee (J.A.T.C.), a Labor Management Committee member, and Chairman of all the Trust Fund Committees within Local #9 (Health Fund, Pension Fund, 401(k) Annuity Fund and Vacation Fund). He has also been appointed to the Tri-County Work Force Investment Board by the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and has been appointed to be a S.A.S.M.I. and International Scholarship Fund Trustee by S.M.W.I.A. General President Michael Sullivan. JASON WARDRIPJason was elected as Business Representative for Sheet Metal Workers Local #9 in the Denver Area on August 30, 2007. He is responsible for settling disputes between the membership and employers, enforcing the contract and negotiating new contracts as assigned by the Business Manager. He served as Local #9's Warden from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2003, was elected to the E-Board and served from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2006, and then was elected as Local #9's President from July 1, 2006 through August 26, 2007. JOHN FLECKJohn is the Financial SecretaryTreasurer for Local #9 and in addition to those duties, John acts as a Business Representative responsible for settling disputes between the membership and employers, enforcing the contract and negotiating new contracts as assigned by the Business Manager. He serves on the Statewide J.A.T.C. Committee, the Labor Management Committee, is a Trustee to the SMW#9 Trust Funds, the Arapahoe Douglas County Workforce Board, the Denver Area Labor Federation, the Front Range Economic Strategy Center, the Colorado State Democratic Labor Advisory Committee and is currently serving as Vice-President of the Colorado AFL-CIO. He entered the apprenticeship program in September 1982 and turned out as a journeyman in October 1986; later becoming an apprentice instructor from the fall of 1991 through the spring of 1997. AL GERZEAl was elected as Southern Business Representative for Sheet Metal Workers' Local #9 in July of 2006. He is responsible for dispatching workers, settling disputes between members and employers, enforcing existing contracts and negotiating new contracts, and additional duties as assigned by the business manager. LARRY LAWRENCELarry is the Statewide Training Director for Sheet Metal Workers' Local #9, responsible for the supervision of the Apprenticeship Program and the Continuing Education Program for Journeymen. He has been an instructor at the Loveland, Denver and Colorado Springs schools since 1996, was appointed Training Coordinator in November 2002 and became Training Director in February 2006. Larry received his Bachelors Degree in Labor Education and Labor Studies from the National Labor College in June of 2003, and is currently the Chairman of the Colorado Building and Trades Training Directors Association. BRIAN SUMMERSBrian was appointed to the position of Market Development Representative in August 2006, after having previously served as a Business Representative in the Southern Area from October of 1998 through June 2006. He has served on the Statewide J.A.T.C. Committee and the Labor Management Committee and served as an apprentice instructor for 6 years. As an organizer, he is responsible for increasing union membership and signatory contractors for Local #9 and Local #103 in Wyoming. ANDREW GILLILANDAndy is the Assistant Training Coordinator for the Colorado Springs Training Facility and also a full-time instructor at both the Colorado Springs and Denver Schools. Andy has been teaching since 1996 and recently received his Associate of Arts degree. LEONARD E. MARTINEZLeonard is an organizer for the Western Slope area of the state. He has served as the Vice President of Sheet Metal Workers' Local #9 from the summer of 2001 through the present. Leonard has worked in all aspects of the trade, starting in a production sheet metal shop. He is a current member of the El Paso County Democrats and the Southern Colorado Area Labor Council. LARRY KOLDEWAYLarry was appointed as a Market Development Representative (Organizer) in April of 2006 and is responsible for increasing union membership and signatory contractors for Local #9. He entered the apprenticeship program in September 1969 and turned out as a journeyman in summer of 1973.
